About Sam

Born and raised on Wabash Street in the Bay - Goodman neighborhood of Rochester's eastside, Sam learned early the values of hard work and community.  Growing up Sam did odd jobs for the neighbors to earn spending money.  "One of the great memories I have of the old neighborhood is riding my bicycle to DV's Bakery to pick up loaves of hot french bread and then going across the street to Lanovara's for Italian pastries".
Sam attended No. 25 School, Frederick Douglass Junior High School and Edison Tech on Clifford Avenue.  He went on to MCC where he earned an AAS degree in Engineering graduating with Distinction.     He then completed his BS degree in Electrical Engineering at Cornell University, also with Distinction.  "It was incredible how well prepared I was for Cornell from attending both Edison and MCC".  "We were doing things in junior year of Cornell that I had learned at Edison".

In 1981 Sam began his professional career at Eastman Kodak performing design and research in solid state digital imaging.  In late 1982 he opened his first restaurant - Peaches, on Thurston Road in the City's 19th ward.  He went on to open Plums Restaurant in 1987 located in the Town of Brighton.

In 1991 Sam founded Rowe Engineering, an electronics design company specializing in high-end communications based prototyping and product development.  In 1992 he founded Enerserve, Inc. an energy conservation company that performed electrical system upgrades on mid to large commercial and industrial buildings helping their owners to conserve energy and participate in utility company rebates.

In 1994 Sam founded Springwaters, Inc., a private label spring water bottling company which ships products to over 14 states to customers including restaurants, hotels, country clubs, hospitals, schools and civic organizations such as Rotary International and Lions Clubs.

Over the past 25 years, Sam has created businesses employing more than 300 people in our community.  He is the only candidate for the 132nd Assembly District who has substantial business experience.  He knows first hand what it takes to create and sustain jobs in New York State.

Sam Trapani has the desire and vision necessary to reform State government and reduce taxes to help stimulate our local economy and create jobs.

Sam has lived in the City of Rochester, Irondequoit and for the past 10 years in Brighton with his wife and two children.
